Sigma-X QR vs. NR
QR adds Shunyata's patented QR/BB technology and NIC to the Sigma-X noise-reducing platform. NR is the reference noise-reducing choice when QR/BB is not required.
Technology
Sigma-X QR combines Shunyata Research technologies for current delivery, noise reduction, electromagnetic control, conductor geometry, connector integrity, dielectric performance, and conductor conditioning. The QR model specifically uses QR/BB, NIC, Gen3 NR, dual TAPc polarizers, 6-gauge VTX-Ag conductors, CopperCONN connectors, fluorocarbon dielectric materials, and KPIP v2 processing.
TAPc
Patent-pending Transverse Axial Polarizer technology couples to the electromagnetic fields surrounding conductors and is designed to reduce electromagnetic distortion. Sigma-X QR uses two TAPc polarizers.
QR/BB
Shunyata's patented QR/BB acts as an instantaneous energy reserve when placed in-line with an AC power supply, supporting dynamic current delivery in demanding components.
Gen3 NR
Gen3 NR is Shunyata's power-cable noise-reduction architecture. Sigma-X QR is specified for greater than 6 dB of noise reduction at 1 MHz.
VTX-Ag
VTX-Ag geometry combines a pure-silver center conductor with a concentric pure-copper outer conductor. Sigma-X QR uses this architecture in a substantial 6-gauge configuration.
CopperCONN
Sigma-X QR uses Shunyata CopperCONN AC and IEC connectors with carbon-fiber bodies.
Fluorocarbon
Fluorocarbon dielectric material is selected for low dielectric absorption, high dielectric strength, and heat resistance.
KPIP v2
Shunyata Research's proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process is applied to conductor and terminal metals. Sigma-X QR receives four days of KPIP v2 processing.
NIC Noise Reduction
Shunyata's Noise Isolation Chamber forms part of the Sigma-X QR noise-reduction architecture together with Gen3 NR.
