Shunyata Research Omega-X QR Power Cable | Reference Component Power Cord

Sale price$12,500.00

Shunyata Research Omega-X QR is the reference Omega-X power cable for amplifiers, preamplifiers, DACs, streamers, transports, and other high-performance audio components. It combines dual patented QR/BB modules with NIC, TAPc technology, 6-gauge VTX-Ag conductors, CopperCONN connectors, and KPIP v2 processing for exceptionally low noise and fast current delivery.

Unlike the Omega-X XC, which is purpose-built primarily for the wall-to-power-distributor connection, Omega-X QR is engineered for direct connection to individual reference components.

Shunyata Research Omega-X QR is the reference Omega-X power cable for direct connection to amplifiers, preamplifiers, DACs, streamers, transports, analog sources, and other high-performance audio components. It combines two patented QR/BB modules with NIC, patent-pending TAPc technology, 6-gauge VTX-Ag conductors, CopperCONN connectors, fluorocarbon dielectric materials, and KPIP v2 processing.

Designed for individual reference components, Omega-X QR addresses both noise reduction and instantaneous current delivery. Shunyata specifies greater than 6 dB of noise reduction at 1 MHz and uses two QR/BB elements, NIC, and two TAPc modules in the QR architecture.

Who is Omega-X QR best suited for?
Omega-X QR is designed for reference power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers, analog source components, DACs, streamers, transports, and other digital source components where both low noise and unrestricted current delivery are priorities.

Omega-X QR vs. Omega-X XC
The two Omega-X power cables are designed for different positions in a system. Omega-X XC is purpose-built primarily for the high-current connection from the wall outlet to a reference power distributor. Omega-X QR is designed for the individual components connected downstream of the distributor.

In a typical reference Shunyata power system, use XC from the wall to the distributor and QR from the distributor to amplifiers, preamplifiers, and source components.

Technology
Omega-X combines Shunyata Research technologies developed to address electromagnetic distortion, noise, conductor performance, connector integrity, and dielectric behavior. The QR model specifically uses dual QR/BB modules, NIC, dual TAPc polarizers, VTX-Ag conductors, CopperCONN connectors, fluorocarbon dielectric materials, and KPIP v2 processing.

Shunyata Research TAPc technology
TAPc
Transverse Axial Polarizer technology couples to electromagnetic fields surrounding conductors and is designed to reduce electromagnetic distortion.

Shunyata Research QR/BB technology
QR/BB
Shunyata's patented QR/BB acts as an instantaneous energy reserve when placed in-line with an AC power supply. Omega-X QR uses two QR/BB elements.

Shunyata Research KPIP v2 technology
KPIP v2
Shunyata Research's proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process is applied to conductor and terminal metals. Omega-X QR receives four days of KPIP v2 processing.

Shunyata Research VTX-Ag conductors
VTX-Ag
VTX-Ag geometry combines a pure-silver center conductor with a concentric ring of pure copper. Omega-X QR uses this architecture in a substantial 6-gauge configuration.

Shunyata Research Gen3 NR technology
Gen3 NR
Gen3 NR is presented by Shunyata as part of the broader Omega-X power-cable technology platform. The QR model's published specification identifies QR/BB, NIC, and TAPc as its model-specific noise and current-delivery technologies.

Shunyata Research CopperCONN connectors
CopperCONN
Omega-X QR uses CopperCONN AC and IEC connectors with pure-copper contacts and carbon-fiber bodies.

Shunyata Research platinum plated connectors
Platinum Plated
Omega-X QR uses platinum-plated connector contacts where specified by Shunyata Research.

Shunyata Research fluorocarbon dielectric
Fluorocarbon
Omega-X QR uses fluorocarbon dielectric material selected for low dielectric absorption, high dielectric strength, and heat resistance.

NIC Noise Reduction
Shunyata's Noise Isolation Chamber technology forms part of the Omega-X QR noise-reduction architecture. Shunyata specifies greater than 6 dB of noise reduction at 1 MHz.

Choice Audio guidance
At Choice Audio, we recommend assigning Omega-X QR and XC by system position rather than viewing them as interchangeable upgrades. Use XC to establish the wall-to-distributor feed, then deploy QR on individual components. We can help confirm the correct IEC termination, cable length, and placement for your system before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Where should I use the Shunyata Omega-X QR?
Shunyata specifies Omega-X QR for amplifiers, preamplifiers, analog sources, and digital source components. It is the Omega-X model intended for direct connection to individual components.

What is the difference between Omega-X QR and Omega-X XC?
Omega-X QR uses 6-gauge conductors, dual QR/BB modules, NIC, and dual TAPc technology for individual components. Omega-X XC uses 4-gauge conductors and dual TAPc technology and is purpose-built primarily for feeding a power distributor from the wall.

Does Omega-X QR use QR/BB technology?
Yes. Omega-X QR contains two patented QR/BB elements.

What is the standard Omega-X QR length?
Shunyata Research lists 2.0 meters as the standard Omega-X QR length.

Should I choose C15 or C19?
The correct IEC termination depends on the inlet used by your component. Choice Audio can help verify whether your equipment requires the C15 or C19 version before ordering.
