The Rega Planar 3 RS Edition is a premium audiophile turntable that takes the acclaimed Planar 3 platform to a higher level of rigidity, speed control, cartridge performance, and mechanical precision. Designed and manufactured by Rega, the Planar 3 RS combines a new brushed-metal HPL plinth, precision RB330 tonearm, factory-fitted Nd5 moving-magnet cartridge, Reference EBLT drive belt, and custom-matched Neo MK2 power supply.

The result is a highly refined vinyl playback system engineered to minimize unwanted resonance, motor vibration, and speed variation while allowing more of the information stored in your records to emerge.

HIGH-RIGIDITY HPL PLINTH

The defining feature of the Planar 3 RS Edition is its new High Pressure Laminate (HPL) plinth with a brushed dark aluminium metal skin.

HPL technology, traditionally used on Rega's higher-end turntables, provides increased rigidity while maintaining the lightweight construction that is central to Rega's design philosophy.

The plinth incorporates Rega's proven double-brace system, positioned between the tonearm mounting and main hub bearing. This creates a structurally rigid "stressed beam" assembly that helps prevent unwanted energy from being absorbed by the plinth or transferred into the record.

Rather than relying on unnecessary mass, the Planar 3 RS focuses rigidity exactly where it is required.

CUSTOM-MATCHED NEO MK2 PSU

The Planar 3 RS Edition includes a Neo MK2 turntable power supply, with the motor vibration circuit individually hand-tuned to each turntable's motor.

The Neo MK2 provides:

REFERENCE EBLT DRIVE BELT

The Planar 3 RS comes fitted with Rega's Reference EBLT drive belt as standard.

The precision belt works with the 24 V motor, custom CNC-machined aluminium pulley, and Neo MK2 PSU to provide accurate and stable platter rotation.

This combination minimizes unwanted speed variation and helps preserve the timing and pitch stability of the music.

RB330 PRECISION TONEARM

The legendary RB330 precision tonearm is hand assembled and represents more than four decades of Rega tonearm development.

Designed using advanced 3D CAD and CAM technology, the RB330 incorporates an optimized tonearm tube and precision bearing housing designed to minimize resonance and unwanted movement.

Its high-precision bearings provide extremely stable, virtually friction-free movement, allowing the cartridge to accurately follow the record groove and retrieve fine musical information.

REGA ND5 MOVING MAGNET CARTRIDGE

The Planar 3 RS Edition is supplied with the Rega Nd5 moving-magnet cartridge factory fitted, creating a highly integrated vinyl playback solution straight from the box.

The Nd5 features a nude elliptical diamond stylus manufactured from polycrystalline diamond, combined with a newly developed generator geometry designed for accurate channel balance and improved linearity.

Its miniaturized parallel coils are wound in-house using 38-micron wire and 1,275 turns. The resulting low-inductance, low-impedance generator is designed to improve high-frequency response and provide a wide, detailed soundstage.

The Nd5's recommended tracking force is 1.75 g.

DOUBLE-BRACE TECHNOLOGY

Rega's double-brace architecture uses a 3 mm phenolic bottom brace together with a metalized-skin phenolic top brace.

These braces are positioned specifically around the critical structural area between the tonearm and main bearing. The resulting rigid assembly helps control resonance without adding unnecessary mass to the entire plinth.

This approach helps isolate the record from unwanted energy generated by the motor, bearing, and surrounding structure.

PRECISION CENTRAL BEARING

The Planar 3 RS features Rega's patented brass main hub central bearing, with an improved fit and construction designed to reduce stress within the bearing assembly.

Combined with the precision sub-platter and custom pulley, the bearing system provides a stable mechanical foundation for accurate platter rotation.

12 MM OPTIWHITE GLASS PLATTER

A 12 mm polished-edge Optiwhite glass platter provides the Planar 3 RS with a rigid and precisely manufactured platform for vinyl playback.

The glass platter combines mechanical stability with a clean, premium appearance while working with the Reference EBLT belt and precision drive system to maintain accurate rotation.
