At the heart of the Planar 10 is an ultra-lightweight skeletal plinth constructed from Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core, a material originally developed for aerospace applications. The foam core is sandwiched between two exceptionally thin and rigid layers of high-pressure laminate (HPL).

This construction makes the Planar 10 plinth approximately 30% lighter than the original RP10, while simultaneously increasing rigidity. The skeletal design reduces unnecessary mass while concentrating structural strength precisely where it is required.
