Anthem STR Power Amplifier | Dual-Mono Stereo Power Amplifier

Sale price$6,499.99

The Anthem STR Power Amplifier is Anthem's flagship two-channel amplifier, with a true dual-mono design built around two large, independently wound toroidal transformers, one per channel. Anthem rates it at 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 600 into 4 ohms with both channels driven, and 800 watts per channel into 2 ohms.

Sixteen bipolar output devices per channel, no rail fuses and Anthem's Advanced Load Monitoring let it drive demanding loudspeakers with authority. A 7-inch graphic display and matching styling pair it with the STR Preamplifier. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Canada, in Black or Silver.

POWER

Anthem rates the STR Power Amplifier at 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 600 watts per channel into 4 ohms, both channels driven, and 800 watts per channel into 2 ohms, so it can drive demanding loudspeakers with authority.

TRUE DUAL-MONO DESIGN

Each channel has its own independently wound toroidal transformer, giving each a dedicated power source. Anthem says this ensures complete channel separation and freedom from interference between channels.

OUTPUT AND INPUT STAGES

Sixteen bipolar output devices per channel, in a Class AB configuration, provide instantaneous peak power. Anthem says using many devices reduces distortion and keeps the amplifier linear. The input stage uses Anthem's cascoded complementary feedback topology, with eight low-noise bipolar input devices; transistors in critical stages are hand-selected and matched.

NO RAIL FUSES

The amplifier sections connect directly to the power supply capacitor bank. Anthem says this keeps output impedance low and makes more power instantly available for difficult speaker loads.

SOFT TURN-ON AND POWER OPTIONS

A sequence-controlled soft turn-on manages inrush current at power-up, so breakers don't trip. The amplifier can switch on and off automatically by trigger or by sensing an audio signal, which is especially convenient with a preamp using Home Theater Bypass.

ADVANCED LOAD MONITORING

Anthem's Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM) continuously monitors temperature, current and voltage. It is non-invasive and only engages under extreme conditions, so it doesn't interfere with normal playback.

CHOICE AUDIO GUIDANCE

The STR Power Amplifier is the choice when your speakers need serious current, or when you want separates you can upgrade one piece at a time. Paired with the STR Preamplifier, you get Anthem's room correction and subwoofer management up front with dual-mono power behind it. Tell us your speakers and room, and we'll help you decide between STR separates and the STR Integrated.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much power does the STR Power Amplifier have?
Anthem rates it at 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 600 into 4 ohms with both channels driven, and 800 watts per channel into 2 ohms.

What does dual-mono mean here?
Each channel has its own toroidal transformer, so the left and right channels each have a dedicated power supply.

Can it turn on automatically?
Yes. It can switch on and off by trigger or by sensing an audio signal.

Which finishes are available?
Black or Silver.
