Alpha USB

Beyond state-of-the-art!

APPLICATIONS

There are very few great quality USB connectors so we created our own.  It features an easy to grip, large diameter head-shell that accepts large gauge wiring. It has an exceptional strain-relief system that ensures longterm reliability even with heavy usage.  The contacts are made from high conductivity gold-plated copper assuring minimal signal junction impedance.

TECHNOLOGY

SR USB Cable

There are many problems with off-the-shelf USB cables including poor quality conductors and dielectrics and insufficient shielding.  Conventional cables induce high amounts of signal jitter and phase noise degrading sonic performance.

The SR-USB-Cable is an exclusive Shunyata Research product that was designed to achieve the ultimate levels of performance without regard to production cost. It starts with our highest grade of ArNi® wire featuring pure OHNO copper in a VTX™ geometry with fluorocarbon dielectrics.  The power wiring is a completely different type of conductor designed specifically for DC power transfer minimizing any signal transmission interference. Massive silver-plated copper braided shields protect the delicate signals from external RFI/EMI.

Shunyata Research digital cables are produced using a ‌Precision Matched Z (‌‌PMZ) concept. This means that tolerances of the conductor surface, dielectric extrusion, and the precision of the braided shield are held to minute variances. To achieve these tight tolerances, the extrusion and braiding machines must be run at one-quarter speed during the manufacturing process. The result is better performance through a reduction of cable-induced ‘signal jitter’. (Note: Z means impedance)
‌‌ArNi® is a type of wire created by Shunyata Research designed to be the finest quality wire available for audio purposes. It begins with the highest purity of copper available – OFE C10100 or Ohno (single crystal). Then it is formed in virtual hollow tubes eliminating skin effects and eddy current distortions. In addition, the wire undergoes our proprietary KPIP™ process.

KPIP™ PROCESSING

Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process includes four days of continuous KPIP™ processing to dramatically reduce burn-in time and significantly improve sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation.
