AAVA VOLUME CONTROL

AAVA volume control represents a groundbreaking innovation in audio technology. Unlike conventional volume controls that rely on variable resistors in the signal path, AAVA utilizes 16 V-I converter amplifiers with varying gain to regulate volume levels. By eliminating the need for rotary resistors, AAVA maintains an optimal signal-to-noise ratio and minimal distortion across the entire volume range. This advancement ensures that the music signal remains pure and unaltered, free from the degradation and impedance fluctuations associated with older designs. In the Accuphase E-380, four maximum-gain V-I converter amplifiers are paired with two amplifier circuits in a parallel configuration, effectively doubling the output current capability and halving the circuit impedance to further reduce noise.

AAVA Key Features

  • Purely analog operation avoids the noise inherent in digital circuitry.

  • Exceptional signal-to-noise ratio at all volume levels.

  • Consistent sound quality throughout the volume range.

  • Precisely graded volume adjustment steps.

  • Balanced volume control ensures uniformity between left and right channels.

  • High channel separation for immersive audio experiences.

  • Left/right balance adjustment and attenuation are seamlessly integrated into the AAVA system.

The power amplification stage of the Accuphase E-380 employs bipolar transistors in a double parallel push-pull configuration, resulting in a 25% improvement in damping factor. Additionally, features such as Balanced Remote Sensing and MOS-FET switches contribute to a damping factor of 500, representing a significant enhancement over previous models. The power supply circuitry is meticulously designed for optimum stability, with a large transformer and massive filtering capacitors providing rock-solid, high-quality power. Furthermore, the Accuphase E-380 delivers 20% more rated output power than its predecessor, with two power amplifier units mounted directly to large heat sinks, capable of delivering 120 watts into 8 ohms or 180 watts into 4 ohms.
